The department houses English and Kiswahili. We are grateful to the administration for the adequate staffing in both languages. The department proudly notes that teamwork produces a strong positive deviation in the performance of the KCSE. It is worth noting that Kiswahili managed a mean of

10.1 which placed them among the best performers in the country in KCSE 2023. This year’s target for English is 8.0+ while Kiswahili is 10.4. We also challenge the girls to partici- pate in the Debates and Mjadala. We have a language policy in which English is spoken between Monday and Thursday while Kiswahili is spoken between Friday and Sunday. We also have library sessions for the form ones so the girls can catch up with the current affairs by reading newspapers and taifa leo. The sessions also help them build a good foundation for their vocabulary and word bank. We are looking at a possibility of enlisting our girls in the national essay writing competition to boost their confidence. The following are the members of our department:
